It takes only three Republican dissenters to halt the law\u2019s passage in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>As revised, the bill would keep some of the Obamacare taxes on wealthy Americans, provide new government subsidies for health insurance purchases, and allow providers to offer plans with less comprehensive coverage.<\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/395657-gop-obamacare-exchanges-stocks\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.rt.com\/files\/2017.07\/thumbnail\/595ff981fc7e93e9228b4567.jpg\" alt=\"US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell \u00a9 Yuri Gripas\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>The second version would provide about $70 billion in additional funding to states in an effort to reduce premiums, hold down out-of-pocket costs, and make healthcare more affordable in general \u2012 adding to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/393592-senate-healthcare-bill-unveiled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$100 billion in the first draft<\/a>, the New York Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Other major features of the new draft allow the use of individual health savings accounts and additional $45 billion in funding to fight the opioid addiction epidemic. Obamacare\u2019s individual mandate, funding for Planned Parenthood, and cost-sharing subsidies would all be eliminated.<strong\/><\/p>\n<p>The new draft contains a separate amendment offered by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), which would allow providers to sell cheaper, deregulated insurance plans so long as they offered Obamacare-compliant plans as well.<\/p>\n<p>A Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score of the bill is expected Monday, but it may not include the Cruz amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Criticizing the opposition to the bill coming from some Republicans, the Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) said that this is the best proposal the party has got.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;If you vote \u2018no\u2019 on this bill, it essentially is a vote for Obamacare because that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re going to be left with,&#8221;<\/em> Cornyn said on Fox News Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is what it looks like when the GOP turns its back on Americans who are afraid they&#8217;re about to lose their health care. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uLsagOyiHK\">https:\/\/t.co\/uLsagOyiHK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ron Wyden (@RonWyden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonWyden\/status\/885535979100155905\">July 13, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/center><\/div>\n<p>One of those opposed is Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), who said the new bill does not repeal Obamacare, <em>\u201cnot even close.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The first version of the bill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/394307-mcconnell-healthcare-bill-pull\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">never reached a vote<\/a> due to opposition within the GOP. Some Republicans expressed pessimism that the new plan would fare any better.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I don&#8217;t even know that it&#8217;s going to get to a vote,&#8221;<\/em> said Sen.
