The US is preparing a new resolution that will likely target China\u2019s trade with Pyongyang.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The launch was <em>\u201cnot only dangerous but reckless and irresponsible\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201ccast a dark shadow of conflict on all nations that strive for peace,\u201d<\/em> Haley told the emergency session of the Security Council, convened on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Washington does not seek conflict, Haley said, but <em>\u201conly the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.\u201d <\/em><em\/><\/p>\n<p>While the US is <em>\u201cprepared to use the full range of our capabilities to defend ourselves and our allies,\u201d<\/em> Washington prefers to use trade as leverage, according to Haley.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;One of our capabilities lies with our considerable military forces. We will use them if we must, but we prefer not to have to go in that direction,&#8221;<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe will look at any country that chooses to do business with this outlaw regime,\u201d<\/em> Haley said, singling out China as North Korea\u2019s primary trading partner.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe will work with China,\u201d<\/em> she said, <em>\u201cbut we will not repeat the inadequate approaches from the past.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/395378-us-north-korea-missile-surprise\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.rt.com\/files\/2017.07\/thumbnail\/595d0bdafc7e93065b8b4567.jpg\" alt=\"The intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-14 is seen during its test launch. \u00a9\u00a0KCNA\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>As an example of North Korea\u2019s depravity, Haley brought up the case of Otto Warmbier, the US student sentenced to 15 years in prison for allegedly stealing a poster at his Pyongyang hotel in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The comatose Warmbier was returned to the US in early July, and died of severe neurological damage within days. Warmbier\u2019s family accused the North Koreans of torturing him, but refused to allow an autopsy.<\/p>\n<p>While the envoys of the UK and France echoed Haley\u2019s sentiments, the ambassador of Sweden said that the crisis on the Korean peninsula does not have a military solution, and warned that the potential for mistakes and misunderstandings was high.<\/p>\n<p>Condemning the North Korean launch, Egypt\u2019s ambassador also noted <em>\u201csome of the positive proposals by China to achieve a gradual detente.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After Russian and Chinese envoys said the threat of military action should be considered unacceptable, Haley said the US would <em>&#8220;go its own path&#8221;<\/em> if necessary.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you are happy with North Korea\u2019s actions, if you want to be a friend of North Korea, then veto any new sanctions,\u201d<\/em> Haley said, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trade between China and North Korea grew almost 40% in the first quarter.
