Opponents of the US president have called on Theresa May to scrap plans for an official state visit, promising mass protests in response.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>It is understood Trump will visit his golf resort in Scotland during the four-day recess between the end of the G20 summit in Hamburg and his Bastille Day visit to Paris.<\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/391947-trump-state-visit-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/img.rt.com\/files\/2017.06\/thumbnail\/593e8e12c36188b20b8b45b6.jpg\" alt=\"\u00a9 Matt Dunham\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>A White House source told the Sunday Times: \u201cThere is a window of opportunity for the president to visit Britain when he is in Europe later this month.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is likely it will be hastily arranged and it is possible no official confirmation of his visit will be given until at least 24 hours before to stop any large-scale protests against his visit from being mobilized.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the Republican leader confirms his visit to the UK, it is likely a meeting will be scheduled with Prime Minister Theresa May.<\/p>\n<p>A Downing Street spokesman, however, said May&#8217;s government\u00a0is yet to be notified of any such visit.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I am not aware of any plans for the president to visit the UK in the next few weeks,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0the spokesman said, according to Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An official state visit, in which the POTUS would meet Queen Elizabeth II, was slated to take place during the summer, but was postponed to the autumn as Trump feared it would stir up mass protests. Further doubt was cast on the invitation when it went unmentioned in the Queen\u2019s Speech, where the schedule for visiting dignitaries is usually announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>May first extended the invitation in January when she visited the White House soon after Trump was sworn in.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K5yvyTc9LYo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>However, news of a visit sparked mass protests in the UK. We\u2019re asking Britain to be on standby to take to the streets with just hours\u2019 notice if necessary.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLet\u2019s not allow the arrival of a misogynist, a racist, a bigot, and a threat to peace be unchallenged.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLet\u2019s take to the street in great number &#8211; and do ourselves proud by showing that Britain rejects his hatred.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Despite the widespread opposition, the government has always said the visit will go ahead, and that the president would be <em>\u201cextended a full courtesy of a state visit.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Foreign Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/393547-trump-state-visit-cancelled\/\">Boris Johnson<\/a> dismissed speculation the visit had been shelved and sought to explain why it was absent from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/393349-queens-speech-trump-visit\/\">Queen\u2019s Speech.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iNhsfhOgzc8\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThat\u2019s because we haven\u2019t yet agreed a date with the White House. That was pushed back as a result of the election,\u201d<\/em> Johnson told Sky News.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe formality is that you cannot put the presidential visit in [the Queen\u2019s Speech] until the date has been agreed.
