Barack Obama has called\u00a0the Republican replacement for his signature healthcare legislation,\u00a0Obamacare,\u00a0a \u201cmassive transfer of wealth\u201d from the poor and middle-class to the wealthy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former President and namesake for the existing Affordable Care Act healthcare law took to Facebook to express his concern over the replacement bill set to be voted upon in the Senate that would benefit the wealthy with massive tax cuts as well as pharmaceutical and insurance companies.<\/p>\n

Mr Obama wrote that \u201chealth care or any other issue, must be something more than simply undoing something that Democrats did\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Obama said that though repealing and replacing Obamacare has become a core issue for Republicans, \u201cwe fought for it because we knew it would save lives, prevent financial misery, and ultimately set this country we love on a better, healthier course.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s statement:<\/p>\n

Our politics are divided. They have been for a long time. And while I know that division makes it difficult to listen to Americans with whom we disagree, that\u2019s what we need to do today.<\/em><\/p>\n

I recognize that repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act has become a core tenet of the Republican Party. Still, I hope that our Senators, many of whom I know well, step back and measure what\u2019s really at stake, and consider that the rationale for action, on health care or any other issue, must be something more than simply undoing something that Democrats did.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
