Few would guess that in reality, they are paying for the corporation&#8217;s staff to freely commit\u00a0heinous crimes without any repercussion.<\/p>\n<p>A new document has revealed startling levels of crime and corruption at the BBC, ranging from sexual assault, drug use and theft to fraud.<\/p>\n<p>A Freedom of Information request, released on Tuesday, has shown that BBC employees have been suspected of more than 500 crimes each year over a 4 year period, including\u00a0the allegation that one employee had under-age sex while on an assignment.<\/p>\n<p>The member of staff in question was only issued with with a warning.<\/p>\n<p>The dossier revealed that many of the other alleged\u00a0crimes were also ignored by the BBC and not passed to police, being closed with \u201cno further action\u201d required.<\/p>\n<p>The document contains information dating back to 2009 and shows there were:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>503 cases of theft and fraud in 2009<\/p>\n<p>586 in 2010<\/p>\n<p>566 in 2011<\/p>\n<p>And 526 in 2012<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Matthew Sinclair of the TaxPayers\u2019 Alliance, Britain\u2019s independent grassroots campaign for lower taxes, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is deeply worrying that criminal behaviour is occurring inside the BBC which is often not being properly investigated and therefore going unpunished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLicence fee payers will be shocked at the relaxed attitude which the Corporation appears to have taken in regard to thefts and frauds incurring significant financial losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis criminal behaviour is completely unacceptable and the BBC must be prepared to crack down on it and involve the police if similar cases occur in the future.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite the evidence in the document, the BBC continue to lie as they enter damage-control mode, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe investigations service takes all reported allegations and rumours seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExperienced staff, many with police backgrounds, work with senior management, the HR department and the police to ensure all allegations are handled thoroughly and appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn instances where serious allegations are borne out, this has often resulted both in police action as well as dismissal.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Freedom of Information request, released on Tuesday, has shown that BBC employees have been suspected of more than 500 crimes each year over a 4 year period, including the allegation that one employee had under-age sex while on an assignment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":31291,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[461,18,1615],"tags":[55],"class_list":{"0":"post-31290","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-editorials","8":"category-latest-news","9":"category-uk-news","10":"tag-uk-news"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31290","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=31290"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31290\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/31291"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=31290"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=31290"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=31290"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
