Eight\u00a0people were killed.<\/p>\n<p>Butt\u2019s known links to banned terror group al-Muhajiroun and Choudary will raise serious questions over why he was not stopped prior to the atrocity.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RB5woi-okDY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Butt was spotted alongside Choudary in a protest following the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in 2013. Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of the anti-extremism Ramadhan Foundation, said Butt flanked Choudhary as he defended the murder carried out by one of his own followers.<\/p>\n<p>Shafiq said Butt called him a <em>\u201cmurtadd\u201d<\/em> \u2013 an apostate from Islam \u2013 while he was conducting media interviews. Shafiq said Butt and Choudary arrived and left the event together.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Butt made no attempt to hide his identity while posing with an IS flag in Regent\u2019s Park for a Channel 4 documentary, \u2018The Jihadists Next Door.\u2019 Butt appeared alongside a group of known extremists led by Choudary\u2019s former deputy Mohammed Shamsuddin.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1xMBx_7OShg\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Al-Muhajiroun, which was banned shortly after the 7\/7 bombings in 2005, and its successor organizations, have been connected to a quarter of all Islamist terror offences and plots, the Telegraph reports.<\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/391158-khuram-butt-documentary-netflix-jihadi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.rt.com\/files\/2017.06\/thumbnail\/5936e427c461886d408b45fb.jpg\" alt=\"Khuram Shazad Butt appeared in a Channel 4 documentary that aired in January last year \u00a9 Lou Pickett \/ YouTube \"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>The group has also been linked to the Westminster attacker Khalid Masood.<\/p>\n<p>Choudary helped 110 British jihadists to travel to Syria in order to fight for IS, it is claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The preacher was detained last year alongside his deputy Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, who received the same sentence. As they were sentenced, his supporters in the public gallery shouted \u201c<em>Allahu Akbar.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Their trial heard Choudary swore an oath of allegiance to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an east London pub. He and Rahman then pressed upon Muslims to travel to IS-occupied lands.<\/p>\n<p>Choudary is open about his support for Sharia law, and has built up a following of thousands through social media, demonstrations and lectures around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In one speech in 2013, he set out his ambitions for the Muslim faith to <em>\u201cdominate the whole world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Choudary\u2019s conviction was welcomed by British Muslim leaders, who condemned his <em>\u201cevil\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201chateful\u201d<\/em> views.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/391208-anjem-choudary-terror-extremist\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=RSS\">RT<\/a>.
