A Los Angeles Times analysis revealed that more than 8 million people who crossed the border illegally could now be considered priorities for deportation.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s orders instruct federal agents to deport not only those convicted of crimes, but also those who aren\u2019t charged but are believed to have committed \u201cacts that constitute a chargeable criminal offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Homan said that, in his estimation, federal agents are happier with Trump\u2019s directives than they were under Obama\u2019s more cautious approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen officers are allowed to do their jobs, morale increases,\u201d said Homan, who also served under Obama. \u201cI think morale is up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Homan said the paucity of people trying to enter the country illegally, a number\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/politics\/washington\/la-na-essential-washington-updates-1492364011-htmlstory.html\" target=\"_blank\">which has&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/redice.tv\/news\/arrests-on-civil-immigration-charges-are-up-38-in-100-days-since-trumps-executive-order\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federal immigration agents have arrested more than 40,000 people on civil immigration charges since\u00a0President Trump\u00a0signed executive orders expanding the scope of deportation priorities in January, a 38% increase over the same period last year.
