The CIA’s chief technology officer, Gus Hunt, has revealed the\u00a0agency’s plan to collect and keep data forever.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0admitted\u00a0that the CIA are attempting to\u00a0gather as much information as it can on the American public and hold it for\u00a0future\u00a0analysis, including;\u00a0text messages, tweets, Facebook activity and videos.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the ‘GigaOM Structure: Data’ conference he said that the\u00a0CIA have been working on new algorithms that will allow them\u00a0to closely examine public trends.<\/p>\n

\u201cTechnology in this world is moving faster than government or law can keep up.\u00a0<\/i>It\u2019s moving faster, I would argue, than you can keep up. You should be asking the question of what are your rights and who owns your data<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe value of any piece of technology is only known when you can connect it with something else that arrives at a future point in time<\/i>.\u00a0Since you can\u2019t connect dots you don\u2019t have … we fundamentally try to collect everything and hang on to it forever<\/i>.<\/p>\n
