{"id":30387,"date":"2013-03-19T16:23:44","date_gmt":"2013-03-19T15:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=30387"},"modified":"2013-03-19T16:39:00","modified_gmt":"2013-03-19T15:39:00","slug":"mp-wants-journalists-banned-from-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/mp-wants-journalists-banned-from-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"MP Wants Journalists Banned From Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rinf.com\"><strong>RINF Alternative News<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30388\" alt=\"May 16th 2009 UNITE National March for Jobs Demo Birmingham\" src=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/js.jpg\" width=\"567\" height=\"378\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Senior Labour MP,\u00a0Jim Sheridan, has suggested that some journalists should be banned from reporting in the Houses of Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>His comments came after\u00a0John Whittingdale, chairman of the committee, called on Lord Leveson to answer questions in\u00a0Parliament\u00a0regarding his plans for press regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Commons culture, media and sport committee, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhat concerns me is the parasitical elements within the press who abuse their position in here in terms of hiding behind their pen and calling people names.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t understand why they are allowed to come into this place and behave in the way that they do.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So what do we need to know about Sheridan, and what does he stand for?<\/p>\n<p>He had previously attempted to\u00a0exempt himself from the\u00a0Freedom of Information Act, with the apparent aim of stopping the public from finding out the details of expense claims.<\/p>\n<p>He voted strongly in favour of ID cards, strongly\u00a0in favour strongly for\u00a0the\u00a0Iraq war, and\u00a0very strongly against\u00a0an\u00a0investigation\u00a0into war.<\/p>\n<p>He voted against\u00a0a\u00a0transparent Parliament and voted for tighter\u00a0integration\u00a0with the EU.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative Nick de Bois labeled Sheridans outburst\u00a0as dangerous, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s both absurd and dangerous.
