A company that develops crowd control weapons for\u00a0the military and law enforcement personnel have now created an advanced\u00a0‘Minority Report’ style facial – and emotion\u00a0– recognition system.<\/p>\n

The Fraunhofer Institute\u00a0which\u00a0receives over 70% of its funding from government bodies, have developed technology that they are calling a\u00a0Sophisticated High-speed Object Recognition Engine (SHORE).<\/p>\n

The system can\u00a0recognise\u00a0faces\u00a0with\u00a091.5% accuracy, determine gender with\u00a094.3% accuracy and\u00a0estimate age with a mean absolute error of 6.85 years, all in realtime.<\/p>\n

It can also\u00a0recognise\u00a0emotions and tell if a person is happy, surprised, angry or sad.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0Fraunhofer Institute:<\/p>\n

The technology also offers\u00a0short term memory for the recognition of\u00a0faces that works fully anonymously:\u00a0<\/em>persons, who were out of the camera\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em>field of vision short term, can be recognized\u00a0<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em>and recollected. The data collected can be\u00a0<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em>summarized and assessed.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
