The prosecution, which was based on bogus evidence, was in response to a series of struggles waged by the Maruti Suzuki workers including strikes, factory occupations and protests in 2011\u201312, against the dire conditions they faced.<\/p>\n<p>Many of those who spoke with Socialist Equality Party campaigners signed the ICFI\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/the-government-of-india-free-the-framed-up-maruti-suzuki-workers-0f7e28d0-8ac0-46e9-91b7-a84ca130fd3d\">online petition<\/a> demanding the immediate release of the victimised workers and the repudiation of the fraudulent charges against them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol<\/strong>, a retired child-care worker from Newcastle, a working-class regional centre in New South Wales, said that the frame-up was \u201cdisgusting\u201d. She added: \u201cIt is against the entire international standards for human rights. Workers don\u2019t have anything these days. It\u2019s scary, and something is really going to happen because workers are sick and tired of the way things are going. Maybe even a revolution. Something\u2019s got to give.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"imageRight\" style=\"width:200px; oveflow:hidden;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/asset\/5a50e885-68f2-48fe-a783-22b28f343eaC\/image.jpg?rendition=image240\" style=\"width:200px;\" \/><span>Carol<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Carol pointed to the international offensive of the corporate elite, and the mounting social crisis afflicting workers in every country. \u201cIt\u2019s not just in India, it\u2019s here as well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouses are so ridiculously expensive that young people can\u2019t afford to live anywhere. I\u2019ve got nine grandkids. None of them have a future.
