His fiscal contributions added up to \u00a353,298, but critics believed there was around \u00a340,000 missing from the politician\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n \u201cTransparency invites scrutiny. I welcome it, as should all those seeking highest office,\u201d<\/em> Corbyn said, nodding to the public pressure for Hammond to publish his books.<\/p>\n \u201cMy taxes (are) fully paid, nothing missing, nothing hidden,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n Labour stood by its leader when Conservative-leaning newspapers argued his salary should actually be around \u00a3150,000 \u2013 which is higher than he declared. He has declared all income and paid the appropriate amount of tax,\u201d<\/em> a Labour spokesman said in reply to the allegations of tax evasion of around \u00a330,000.<\/p>\n \u201cThe payment he received in 2015-16 as leader of the opposition of \u00a327,192 appears on the return as a \u2018benefit\u2019 rather than as pay because that is how it is categorized by HMRC.
