Trade union activists, Labour party members, and NHS employees joined members of the public in the march and addressed crowds at Parliament Square.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cChange course on the NHS or else we will change you,\u201d<\/em> trade union Unite warned the government at Saturday\u2019s rally.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Turner, Assistant General Secretary of Unite, told the crowd that hospitals across the country are declaring emergencies but that the issue comes down to a political decision. <em>\u201cWe demand that the billions robbed from the NHS are returned,\u201d<\/em> he said, referencing next week\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n<p>A number of junior doctors also took to the stage Saturday, warning that privatization will lead to higher healthcare costs and poorer quality of care.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn thanked health service workers and pledged to fight for the \u201cmost civilised\u201d institution in the land.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNHS is in crisis not because of overspending but because of under-funding \u2013 a crisis made in Downing street,\u201d<\/em> he said. <em>\u201cIt\u2019s not the fault of the staff, it\u2019s the fault of a government that has made a political choice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He commended the multicultural workforce of the NHS, saying he would stand up for the rights of European nationals working there and supporting British society.
