A hike in armed violence, however, is expected starting the spring season.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nRoadside bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are by far the most lethal weapon used by Taliban militants against US-led and Afghan troops, as well as civilians.<\/p>\n<p>The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
