Lord Dubs, a Czech Jew, arrived in the UK on the \u201cKindertransport\u201d as a child and has expressed his dismay at the plan\u2019s abolition.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDuring the Kindertransport, Sir Nicky Winton rescued 669 children from Nazi persecution virtually single-handedly. I was one of those lucky ones. It would be a terrible betrayal of his legacy if as a country we were unable to do more than this to help a new generation of refugees,\u201d<\/em> Dubs was quoted as saying by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-38912428\">the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/375360-trump-executive-order-syrian-refugees-waiver\/\">READ MORE: Trump\u2019s executive order bars Syrian refugee program, halts entry for citizens of 7 Arab countries<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Immigration Minister Robert Goodwill confirmed that 350 children would be settled through Dubs, but expressed that Britain should be proud of its record in helping people experiencing the worst refugee crisis since the second world war.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe UK can be proud of its record helping refugee children and I can today announce, in accordance with section 67 of the Immigration Act, that the government will transfer the specified number of 350 children pursuant to that section, who reasonably meet the intention and spirit behind the provision,\u201d<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/publications\/written-questions-answers-statements\/written-statement\/Commons\/2017-02-08\/HCWS467\">said<\/a> Goodwill.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;This number includes over 200 children already transferred under section 67 from France.
