As <em>Der<\/em> <em>Spiegel<\/em> reported, referring to an internal paper of the Federal Interior Ministry, the government now wants to establish a \u201cDefence Centre against Misinformation\u201d\u2014a type of censorship and propaganda agency.<\/p>\n<p> The \u201cDefence Centre\u201d will be set up in the Federal Press Office under Steffen Seibert, who, six years ago, moved seamlessly from his position leading the \u201cHeute Journal,\u201d one of the most important news programs in Germany, to his position as a government spokesperson. The new centre is supposed to strengthen the \u201cpolitical power of defence\u201d of the population and force social networks such as Facebook, Google and Twitter to censor content posted by users.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe acceptance of a post-factual age would amount to political capitulation,\u201d an internal paper quoted by <em>Der<\/em> <em>Spiegel<\/em> said. The paper insisted that \u201cauthentic political communication\u201d remains \u201ccrucial for the 21 century\u201d as well.
