{"id":28871,"date":"2013-02-19T00:02:53","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T23:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.presstv.ir\/detail\/2013\/02\/18\/289674\/ukraine-to-deliver-tank-engines-to-pakistan\/"},"modified":"2013-02-19T00:02:53","modified_gmt":"2013-02-18T23:02:53","slug":"pakistan-to-buy-ukrainian-tank-engines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/pakistan-to-buy-ukrainian-tank-engines\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan to buy Ukrainian tank engines"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"divDetailBody\">\n<p>Ukraine plans to deliver 110 battle tank engines and related parts to Pakistan for installation on the South Asian country\u2019s domestically developed battle tank, the al-Khalid.<\/p>\n<p>The parts will be manufactured at the Malyshev Factory, which is a state-owned manufacturer of heavy equipment located in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, under a four-year $50 million contract signed by the two countries, the RIA Novosti news agency reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The acting deputy general director of the state-owned Ukrainian arms company Ukrspetsexport, Vadim Kozhevnikov, said Kiev previously delivered more than 300 engines to Islamabad for installation on Pakistan\u2019s al-Khalid tank.<\/p>\n<p>The al-Khalid battle tank is operated by a crew of three and armed with a 125mm smooth-bore tank gun that is reloaded automatically.<\/p>\n<p>The tank uses a modern fire-control system integrated with night-fighting equipment and is capable of firing many types of anti-tank rounds as well as guided anti-tank missiles.<\/p>\n<p>Kozhevnikov added that Ukraine is in a good position to compete with the world\u2019s leading tank engine manufacturers, particularly Germany.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are direct competitors of German engine manufacturers.
