Bernie Sanders and the contents of Hillary Clinton\u2019s Wall Street speeches ended up at WikiLeaks and ultimately became available to American voters.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the 13-page FBI\/DHS report was devoted to suggestions on how Internet users can protect their emails from malware, but there was little new that proved that the Russians were the source of the Democratic emails given to WikiLeaks.<\/p>\n<p>The tip-off to how little proof was being offered came in the report\u2019s statement that \u201cThe U.S. government assesses that information was leaked to the press and publicly disclosed.\u201d When you read a phrase like \u201cthe U.S. government assesses,\u201d it really means the U.S. government is guessing \u2013 and the report notably uses a passive tense that doesn\u2019t even assert that the Russians did the leaking.<\/p>\n<p>A well-placed intelligence source told me that there\u2019s little doubt that elements of Russian intelligence penetrated the emails of the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, but the Russians were far from alone.
