To put that number in perspective: the site supposedly impacting\u00a0the national political scene is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexa.com\/siteinfo\/nvcc.edu\" target=\"_blank\">more than 84,000 slots behind<\/a>\u00a0the website for a Virginia community college.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the New York Times devoted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/12\/17\/world\/europe\/russia-propaganda-elections.html?ref=world\" target=\"_blank\">front-page coverage<\/a> to a site called the \u201cPatriot News Agency.\u201d\u00a0The Times\u2019 story emphasized the fact that \u201coperators of Patriot News had an explicitly partisan motivation: getting Mr. Trump elected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But \u201cPatriot News Agency\u201d is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexa.com\/siteinfo\/patriotnewsagency.com\" target=\"_blank\">even less popular<\/a> than the \u201cDenver Guardian,\u201d\u00a0ranking in at 184,898 in the country, according to Alexa. The site\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/patriotnewsonline\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a> has 113 total likes at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Fake news site \u201cMSNBC.com.co,\u201d whose name meant to fool readers into confusing it with liberal network MSNBC, received mentions\u00a0from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/posteverything\/wp\/2016\/11\/18\/my-fake-news-list-went-viral-but-made-up-stories-are-only-part-of-the-problem\/?utm_term=.06ed29f8e5ee\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vox.com\/2016\/11\/16\/13626318\/viral-fake-news-on-facebook\" target=\"_blank\">liberal website Vox.com<\/a>, among others.
