Obama used his executive powers to push through labor, climate and immigration reforms after Congress refused to go along with his proposed programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-edge\/371584-israel--resolution-un-us\/\" target=\"_blank\">READ MORE: \u2018US refusal to veto UN Israeli resolution symbolic gesture by lame duck Obama\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMy suggestion to the <\/em>president elect<em> is, you know, going through the legislative process is always better, in part because it\u2019s harder to undo,\u201d<\/em> Obama told NPR last week. <em>\u201cIn my first two years, I wasn\u2019t relying on executive powers because I had big majorities in &#8230; Congress and we &#8230; [were] able to get bills passed. Even after we lost the majorities in Congress, I bent over backward consistently to try to find compromise and a legislative solution to some of the big problems that we\u2019ve got.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/366136-obama-speech-us-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\">READ MORE: \u2018We are rooting for his success\u2019: Obama on Trump victory as he urges smooth transition<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Obama <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2016\/12\/19\/505860058\/obama-warns-trump-against-relying-on-executive-power\" target=\"_blank\">noted<\/a>\u00a0that Trump is <em>\u201centirely within his lawful power\u201d<\/em> to sign new executive orders and <em>\u201cif he wants to reverse some of those rules, that\u2019s part of the Democratic process.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Gingrich believes that by exercising such power Trump will just sign Obama\u2019s legacy away.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think President Obama is beginning to figure out that his legacy is like one of those dolls that as the air comes out of it, it shrinks and shrinks and shrinks,\u201d<\/em> Gingrich said.<\/p>\n<p>During the election campaign Trump did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donaldjtrump.com\/press-releases\/trump-speech-clinton-email-corruption-disqualifies-her-from-seeking-preside\" target=\"_blank\">promise<\/a>\u00a0to repeal Obama\u2019s initiatives, telling his voters in North Carolina in September that his administration would <em>\u201celiminate every unconstitutional executive order and restore the rule of law to our land.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-edge\/371549-obama-netanyahu-israel-resolution\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.rt.com\/files\/2016.12\/thumbnail\/585dc4fec3618803348b4686.jpg\" alt=\"Israelis prepare for an expected eviction of the Jewish settlement outpost of Amona in the West Bank \u00a9 Amir Cohen\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>That promise now seems a reality especially after Obama failed to honor his promise of a <em>\u201csmooth\u201d<\/em> transition to Trump after his victory. The rift between the future administration and Obama&#8217;s office became apparent on Friday when the US abstained from voting at the UN Security Council, allowing an anti-Israeli settlement resolution to pass, despite a strong calls for Trump to <em>\u201cveto\u201d<\/em> the document.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHe [President Obama] is in this desperate frenzy.
