Keep the people malnourished.\u00a0 It sells more drugs.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv2891757944MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Many supplement users are attracted to exotic herbs and supplements while ignoring shortages of essential nutrients.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv2891757944MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Despite the great href=\"http:\/\/lifespannutritionannex.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">well-made multivitamin<\/span><\/a><span class=\"yiv2891757944\"> can reduce the number of pills that matter.\u00a0 Alex Riley, comic and writer for the BBC, penned a recent article entitled \u201cWhy vitamin pills don\u2019t work and may be bad for you.\u201d [<\/span><a class=\"yiv2891757944\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/future\/story\/20161208-why-vitamin-supplements-could-kill-you\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">BBC News<\/span><\/a><span class=\"yiv2891757944\"> Dec 8, 2016]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">I won\u2019t give blind approval of multivitamins because, as explained below, for a variety of reasons they often don\u2019t live up to their promise of filling nutrient gaps in the diet and improving the healthspan and lifespan of Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">However, nothing could be farther from the truth in regard to multivitamin supplement safety.\u00a0 In fact, poison control center data shows dietary supplements to be safer than tap water, table salt, and aspirin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Despite conjured up claims vitamin pills increase the risk for death, habitual use of multivitamins is potentially the most effective practice at filling nutritional gaps in the American diet and the best bargain among all dietary supplements. \u00a0It would cost many times more to purchase all the ingredients in a multivitamin individually.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><b class=\"yiv2891757944\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">The war against multivitamins<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">The FDAs war on multivitamins dates back to the 1940s when Adolphus Hohensee, a so-called huckster, promoted vitamin tablets to make up for over-processed foods and crops that were depleted of nutrients.\u00a0 [<\/span><a class=\"yiv2891757944\" class=\"yiv2891757944\">] Hohensee had foresight.\u00a0 Today we know his sales pitch to supplement the processed American diet with vitamin pills was correct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Modern attacks against multivitamins date back nearly a decade. you are being oversold on the need for vitamin pills, take a gander at the US Department of Agriculture online tool where health-minded consumers can search to learn just how prevalent a deficiency of a particular vitamin or mineral is in the population.\u00a0 [<\/span><a class=\"yiv2891757944\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ars.usda.gov\/northeast-area\/beltsville-md\/beltsville-human-nutrition-research-center\/docs\/california\/\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">USDA.gov<\/span><\/a><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">I\u2019ve consolidated that USDA data and report that more than 100 million Americans out of a 325 million population are deficient in each of the following essential vitamins and minerals: magnesium, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B9 (folic acid), zinc and potassium.\u00a0 Millions more Americans are deficient in vitamin B1, B3, and B12.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><b class=\"yiv2891757944\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Still, think you are being duped into taking vitamin pills?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482089263003_298876\" class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482089263003_298875\" class=\"yiv2891757944\">If you still think you are being duped into relying on vitamin pills and you will get your doctor to order blood tests to reveal any nutrient deficiencies, think again.\u00a0 Blood tests only reveal recent consumption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">Testing laboratories provide an interpretation of your blood\/nutrient levels as to whether you are in the normal reference range, i.e. normally occurring range.\u00a0 But if nearly everyone is deficient, which is often the case for vitamins C and D and minerals zinc and magnesium, you may fall into the normal inadequate range.\u00a0 In your eyes, your blood test is normal.\u00a0 The reference range couldn\u2019t be further from providing you the truth about your nutritional needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2891757944MsoNormal\"><span class=\"yiv2891757944\">For example, frequently people who are vitamin B12 deficient find their blood test is in the normal range but supplementation with vitamin B12 produces noticeable improvements in short-term memory, relief of backaches, insidious cough, unrelenting
