{"id":283155,"date":"2016-12-07T14:32:54","date_gmt":"2016-12-07T13:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/nearly-70-of-latinos-in-us-report-discrimination-study\/"},"modified":"2016-12-07T23:59:06","modified_gmt":"2016-12-07T22:59:06","slug":"nearly-70-of-latinos-in-us-report-discrimination-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/nearly-70-of-latinos-in-us-report-discrimination-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 70% of Latinos in US report discrimination: Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Nearly seventy percent of Latinos in the United States say they have suffered discrimination, more than twice as many who said so a decade earlier, according to a new study.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The research published Tuesday in online journal Social Science &amp; Medicine &#8211; Population Health shows that 68 percent of Latino men and women felt discriminated against in the US, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n<p>The study used data from the National Latino Health Care Survey, which surveyed 800 Latino adults in 2013 by phone.<\/p>\n<p>That rate, which\u00a0more than doubled since the 30 percent rate of 2003, is similar to the percentage of African Americans who reported discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>The study also shows that minorities who are living in states with tough anti-immigrant policies report higher rates of discrimination.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"313\" src=\"http:\/\/217.218.67.233\/\/photo\/20161207\/0eaa956a-381c-4eeb-b21f-f4d4650fd608.jpg\"\/><figcaption>Members of the Latino organizations march from the Trump Tower to NBC studios in New York City where Donald Trump was set to host a program, November 7, 2016.
