In a separate suit a Baton Rouge police officer is suing for injuries sustained during a BLM protest.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The father of Patrick Zamarripa filed a lawsuit against Black Lives Matter and other groups for allegedly <em>\u201cinciting a war on police\u201d<\/em> that led to the death of his son. <\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit filed in US District Court in Dallas on Monday seeks $550 million in damages.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhile Defendant Black Lives Matter claims to combat anti-black racism,\u201d<\/em> the lawsuit said, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/news\/local\/community\/fort-worth\/article113182023.html#storylink=cpy\">according to<\/a>\u00a0the Fort Worth Star Telegram, <em>\u201cthe movement has in fact incited and committed further violence, severe bodily injury and death against police officers of all races and ethnicities, Jews, and Caucasians. Defendant Black Lives Matter is in fact a violent and revolutionary criminal gang.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa, 32, was on bicycle patrol July 7 this year when hundreds of people marched through downtown Dallas, protesting the recent shootings of African Americans by police.<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of the march, a sniper, Micah Johnson opened fire, ambushing the crowd and killing five police officers \u2013 four from the Dallas Police Department, including Zamarripa.<\/p>\n<p>The shooter, who was killed during the incident, was an Army Veteran who had served in Afghanistan before being discharged for sexual harassment. Johnson had sought to join black militant group two years prior to the massacre but was turned down after a background check.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Moore of the Collective Black People\u2019s Movement told The Daily Beast had been asked to look into Johnson by an unidentified black activist group. When he discovered the Army veteran was discharged for sexual harassment, he labelled him <em>\u201cunfit for recruitment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOnce you\u2019re blacklisted by the alert that we put out, that\u2019s a wrap,\u201d<\/em> Moore <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2016\/11\/10\/75-lawsuits-against-president-elect-trump.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0The Daily Beast in July.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of Zamarripa has distanced herself, and the foundation under her son\u2019s name, from the lawsuit <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur ultimate goal is to bring awareness and unity in our community and communities around the nation,\u201d<\/em> Stephanie Fong-Garza, Zamarripa\u2019s cousin and the founder of his foundation, said in the statement, according to the Star Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit does not name the Next Generation Action Network which helped organize the July 7 protest or its leaders but it does list leading activists. <\/p>\n<p>Among them Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network, Black Lives Matter organizer Rashad Turner, Opal Tometi, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, Deray McKesson and Johnette Elizie. <\/p>\n<p>The list of defendants also includes Malik Zulu Shabazz, leader of the New Black Panthers and George Soros, an alleged supporter of Black Lives Matter.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit claimed that Johnson, the Dallas shooter, was \u201c<em>acting as an agent of and at and under the direction of\u201d<\/em> the defendants.<br \/>Enrique Zamarripa said he sued because <em>\u201cI want justice for my son.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a related story, a Baton Rouge police officer who claimed he was injured during a Black Lives Matter protest after a deadly police shooting also filed a lawsuit on Monday against the organization and DeRay Mckesson, who was arrested at the demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>In the federal lawsuit, the unnamed police officer who sued under the pseudonym \u201cJohn Doe\u201d said he was struck in the face by a piece of concrete or a \u201crock like substance\u201d thrown at police during a July 9 protest over the death of Alton Sterling, a black man shot and killed during a scuffle with two white officers.<br \/>The officer said he filed under a pseudonym<em> \u201cfor his protection.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The suit doesn\u2019t accuse Mckesson of throwing anything at officers but claims he <em>\u201cincited the violence\u201d<\/em> on behalf of Black Lives Matter, which is also named as a defendant.<\/p>\n<p>Mckesson <em>\u201cwas in charge of the protests and he was seen and heard giving orders throughout the day and night of the protest,\u201d<\/em> the suit claims, according to AP. <em>\u201cThe protest turned into a riot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nearly 200 people were arrested during the protests, among them Mckesson.
