Photos on social media showed plumes of smoke in the air and vandalized cars and shop windows. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The demonstration against President-Elect Donald Trump has gathered for yet another night in the Pacific Northwest city.<\/p>\n<p>Some 4,000 people started their protest at Pioneer Courthouse Square and moved to northeast Portland,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/portland\/index.ssf\/2016\/11\/anti-trump_protests_held_for_f.html#incart_big-photo\" target=\"_blank\">according\u00a0<\/a>to The Oregonian daily. Police on Twitter wrote<em>\u00a0that protesters were preparing<\/em>\u00a0\u201cgas and flares\u201d and were\u00a0<em>\u201carming themselves with rocks from construction site.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Police have deployed less lethal munitions such as OC spray and vapor (pepper spray), rubber ball distraction devices, rubber baton rounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Portland Police (@PortlandPolice) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PortlandPolice\/status\/797001324852224001\">November 11, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The demonstration heavily interrupted traffic in the city as protesters moved across other major roadways, local media reported.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCrowd throwing projectiles at police. Significant damage to area car lot,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0police said.<\/p>\n<p>Portland police called the protest\u00a0<em>\u201ca riot,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0citing its \u201cextensive criminal and dangerous behavior.\u201d At least 19 cars at Toyota of Portland were vandalized, a sales manager told the paper. Later police reported of new cases of vandalism in the city. Photos on social media showed the smashed windows of local shops.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZQhl5cAj6h4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Portland activist Greg McKelvey said Thursday that several human rights groups in the city would be working together under the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/portlandsresistance\/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED\" target=\"_blank\">name<\/a>, Portland\u2019s Resistance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn order to survive President Trump there needs to be a strong resistance. Our group believes that Portland has an opportunity to become a beacon of light for the rest of the nation,\u201d<\/em> McKelvey wrote in a press release on Facebook. The group has scooped over 3,000 likes so far.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAfter several orders to disperse, police have used less lethal munitions to effect arrests and move the crowd. Officers still taking projectiles,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0police tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of people have been out in the streets across the US, since Trump won the 2016 presidential race with 290 electoral votes November 8, leaving Hillary Clinton officially behind, although she won the popular vote.<\/p>\n<p>Chanting anti-Trump slogans, such as\u00a0<em>\u201cnot my president\u201d<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>\u201cwe reject president-elect,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0people have been occupying streets in cities from California to New York, expressing their displeasure at the presidential race\u2019s outcome.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/366408-trump-angry-twitter-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\">READ MORE:\u00a0Trump denounces \u2018media-incited\u2019 protesters in angry Twitter post<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following demonstrations, Trump took to Twitter on Thursday, lashing out at\u00a0<em>\u201cprofessional\u201d<\/em>\u00a0protesters, who have been rallying against his election since Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cJust had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting.
