Downing Street had accused her of \u201cundermining\u201d<\/em> the UK\u2019s position.<\/p>\n But she shot back, saying: \u201cI can\u2019t undermine something that doesn\u2019t exist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Earlier this month, Sturgeon threatened May with another independence referendum if Scotland\u2019s access to the single market was not secured.<\/p>\n However, Akash Paun, from the think tank Institute for Government, said any deal allowing Scotland to cling on to its single market status would be slapped down by Eurocrats.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve not seen any credible, worked up proposal of how that would work,\u201d<\/em> he told the BBC\u2019s Newsnight program.<\/p>\n \u201cAs far as I am aware, there is no relevant precedent from anywhere else in the EU.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhat we have seen from other member states is special, bespoke deals for particular territories, normally quite small, isolated islands.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Senior Tory MPs also want more answers from May. During a 90-minute grilling in the House of Commons on Monday, May refused to give any further details about Britain\u2019s EU exit strategy.<\/p>\n Andrew Tyrie, who chairs the Commons Treasury committee, says the PM\u2019s silence was \u201cincreasingly unsustainable.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe vacuum is already being filled by leaks from her own Cabinet colleagues,\u201d<\/em> he warned.<\/p>\n Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also hit out at May, accusing her of fueling resentment in Europe with her so-called \u2018hard Brexit\u2019 plan.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not believe we\u2019ll get the best deal for this country by using threats, hectoring or lecturing of the European Union,\u201d<\/em> Corbyn said.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the negotiations to succeed, Britain needs a plan.
