The Obama administration is\u00a0preparing to expand the military and CIA’s\u00a0controversial use of drone \u201ckill lists\u201d into\u00a0northern Africa.<\/p>\n

The U.S. government first introduced secret kill lists following the 9\/11 attacks and\u00a0have focused on Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia, resulting in the mass killing of innocent\u00a0civilians, many of whom are\u00a0children.<\/p>\n

Last year, calculations revealed\u00a0that the percentage of innocent people killed in drone strikes\u00a0in Pakistan<\/a> is as high as 80%.<\/p>\n

The US is now planning to launch attacks in Algeria and other countries in northwest Africa.<\/p>\n

Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u00a0reports that the current target is\u00a0Mokhtar Belmokhtar, an Algerian who organised the seizure\u00a0of a natural gas facility in Amenas, Algeria in January. A military raid on the compound lead to the death of 69 people.<\/p>\n

The WSJ report states:<\/p>\n

\u201cSome US officials are pressing for a more direct involvement in the hunt for Mr. Belmokhtar, whether with drones, other aircraft or American forces. Such an effort could rely on the military\u2019s special-operations units, with help from the Central Intelligence Agency, officials said.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Last week it was reported<\/a> that Obama believes he has the right to order the killing of anyone without any evidence.<\/p>\n
