Perception is reality. But perception lies to us all the time. There&#8217;s a phenomenom well known in psychology circles called the &#8220;Flashed Face Distortion.&#8221; If you look at a pair of flashed faces aligned at the eyeline, suddenly the rest of their features look grotesque. Attractive people now look cartoonish and scary.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a little bit of that in politics now too. Sadly, it&#8217;s often the liberal ideas that only get those flashes of exposure. And correspondingly, they&#8217;re perceived as distorted by the traditional media, who rarely get anything outside of their comfy conservative framing in which they&#8217;re surrounded.
