But it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>The lobby firm created by both Tony and John Podesta in 1988 receives $140,000 a month from the Saudi government, a government that beheads nonviolent dissidents, uses torture to extract forced confessions, doesn\u2019t allow women to drive, and bombs schools, hospitals and residential neighborhoods in neighboring Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>The Podesta Group\u2019s March 2016<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fara.gov\/docs\/5926-Short-Form-20160311-306.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.fara.gov\/docs\/5926-Short-Form-20160311-306.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1472687895573000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGwSqp1yN4AaRj9chKe9tq2dJSs5Q\"> filing<\/a>, required under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, shows that Tony Podesta himself oversees the Saudi account. At the same time, Tony Podesta is also a top campaign contributor and bundler for Hillary Clinton. So while one brother runs the campaign, the other brother funds it with earnings that come, in part, from the Saudis.<\/p>\n<p>John and Tony Podesta have been heavyweights in DC insider politics for decades. John Podesta served as President Bill Clinton\u2019s chief of staff, founded the influential DC think tank Center for American Progress (which regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/press\/release\/2016\/04\/25\/136324\/release-with-saudi-reforms-underway-next-president-has-chance-to-reframe-the-u-s-saudi-relationship\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/press\/release\/2016\/04\/25\/136324\/release-with-saudi-reforms-underway-next-president-has-chance-to-reframe-the-u-s-saudi-relationship\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1472687895573000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEKSEqMJ4sj3wXsSux7S4h5vwxcFQ\">touts Saudi \u201creforms<\/a>\u201d), and was counselor to President Obama.
