John Hennigan, 50, was handed down an 18-month jail sentence by Judge Patricia Lynch QC at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday after he breached an Anti-Social Behavior Order (ASBO) by using racist language towards a woman and her two young children.<\/p>\n
During sentencing, Hennigan told the judge she was \u201ca bit of a \u201cc***,\u201d<\/em> the Mirror reports.<\/p>\n The judge immediately replied: \u201cYou are a bit of a c*** yourself. Being offensive to me doesn\u2019t help.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Hennigan, or Harlow, Essex, retorted: \u201cGo f*** yourself.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cYou too,\u201d<\/em> the judge said.<\/p>\n While sentencing Hennigan, Judge Lynch told him: \u201cYour offence is thoroughly unpleasant and repeated breaches of this order using the most unpleasant of language and causing distress.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s said custody would be distressing for you but it seems you never learn.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThis is the ninth time you have breached this order, the same offensive, racist comments and you don\u2019t deserve another chance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Read more<\/p>\n Following the exchange, Hennigan banged on the glass panel of the dock, performed a Nazi salute, and twice shouted \u201cSieg Heil\u201d<\/em> before starting to sing: \u201cJews gas them all.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Judge Lynch then said sarcastically: \u201cWe are all really impressed. Take him down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Hennigan was jailed for 18 months for insulting a black Caribbean mother, Tanisha Ford, and her two children, aged six and eight, as they were out shopping in Harlow in April of last year.<\/p>\n Hennigan was handed an ASBO in 2005, prohibiting him from acting in an antisocial way or from using racist language.<\/p>\n He said to Ford: \u201cI don\u2019t agree with interracial relationships. I like natural.\u201d<\/em> He later added: \u201cI prefer white children.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Describing Ford\u2019s reaction to the racist outburst, Prosecutor Lynne Shirley said: \u201cShe was shocked and surprised. The incident made her feel very upset, hurt, out of place and distressed. She was alarmed her children had to listen to the comments.\u201d<\/em> Hennigan was arrested and police officers later said he made \u201cvery unpleasant\u201d<\/em> comments while in custody.<\/p>\n Defense lawyer Harry Warner urged the judge to spare Hennigan immediate custody, saying he could benefit from working with probation.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is a rather unfortunate man,\u201d<\/em> Warner said. \u201cHe lives alone, is single and has been diagnosed and medicated for depression.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The court heard this is only the latest in a string of breaches of Hennigan\u2019s ASBO. He has 23 convictions for 47 offences, many of them involving Nazi salutes and racist incidents.<\/p>\n In October 2012, he was seen performing a Nazi salute in a central London pub and making racial slurs towards black people.
