{"id":254228,"date":"2016-07-06T12:01:39","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T12:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/swedish-police-investigate-over-40-reports-of-rape-and-groping-at-2-music-festivals\/"},"modified":"2016-07-06T15:06:14","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T15:06:14","slug":"swedish-police-investigate-over-40-reports-of-rape-and-groping-at-2-music-festivals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/swedish-police-investigate-over-40-reports-of-rape-and-groping-at-2-music-festivals\/","title":{"rendered":"Swedish Police Investigate Over 40 Reports of Rape and Groping at 2 Music Festivals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"67.971684587814\">\n<p>The Swedish police said on Tuesday that they were investigating reports that dozens of young women and girls were sexually assaulted at two music festivals in <a href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/news\/international\/countriesandterritories\/sweden\/index.html?inline=nyt-geo\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"More news and information about Sweden.\">Sweden<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The police said there had been five reports of rape and 12 reports of sexual molestation at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bravallafestival.se\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bravalla Festival<\/a> in Norrkoping<em>,<\/em> about 100 miles southwest of Stockholm, while 32 sexual assaults had been reported at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.putteiparken.se\/\" target=\"_blank\">Putte i Parken<\/a>, a music festival in Karlstad, about 190 miles west of Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>Girls and women at the festival in Karlstad said they had been groped by boys and men, Inspector Leif Nystrom of the Karlstad Police Department said in a phone interview. Most were under 18 years old, and three were under 15.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese were reports of women being touched in unwanted places, such as on their breasts and on their bottoms and inside their underwear,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The police have been examining seven suspects, six of them foreigners, whose ages range from under 18 to 35, Inspector Nystrom said; no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Police officials in Norrkoping could not be reached for comment.
