Apologists for Donald Trump argue that he will pursue a more restrained and less warlike foreign policy, including a more balanced policy toward Israel.<\/p>\n<p>But a recent\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/trump-adviser-tells-israel-to-wait-to-sign-military-aid-deal\/\">report<\/a> by Stuart Winer in the Times of Israel suggests Trump\u2019s bombastic \u201cart of the deal,\u201d at least when applied to pol-mil policy, will turn out to be yet another politician\u2019s distinction without a difference \u2014 to wit:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18638\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" readability=\"34\"><a href=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/thumb_PC2016_DonaldTrump.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18638\" src=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/lazy-load\/images\/1x1.trans.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/thumb_PC2016_DonaldTrump-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaking to the AIPAC conference in Washington D.C. on March 21, 2016. (Photo credit: AIPAC)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cA senior adviser to Donald Trump said Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should wait for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee to win the White House before signing a military aid deal with Washington, because Trump would offer a better deal than the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an interview with Channel 2 television David Friedman said that a Trump administration would maintain Israel\u2019s military advantage over its neighbors. He said Trump would not reduce defense aid to Israel but \u2018in all likelihood will increase it significantly.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018The aid package will certainly not go down in all likelihood it will go up in a material amount because Israel must maintain a technological and military superiority within the region,\u2019 Freidman said. \u2018I can\u2019t give advice how Israel should bargain and develop its own strategy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFriedman\u2019s suggestion that Trump would increase aid to Israel apparently ran contrary to the GOP candidate\u2019s call to make Israel pay back foreign aid.
