Prime Minister David Cameron said Sadiq Khan was \u201ca proud Muslim and a proud Brit\u201d during an anti-Brexit event just weeks after attacking the London mayor for having alleged links to Islamic extremists.<\/p>\n
Cameron made the remarks during the launch of the \u201cBritain Stronger in Europe\u201d<\/em> rally at Roehampton University in West London.<\/p>\n Sharing a platform with Sadiq Khan, Cameron attempted to show solidarity with the London mayor just weeks after being accused of participating in an Islamophobic campaign against him during the mayoral race.<\/p>\n The utter shamelessness of David Cameron – at the absolute centre of a bigoted campaign against Sadiq Khan – now praising him<\/p>\n \u2014 Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) May 30, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/center><\/div>\n I can’t understand why David Cameron is willing to share a platform with Sadiq Khan. Doesn’t he think he consorts with dangerous radicals?<\/p>\n \u2014 Mark Thompson (@MarkReckons) May 30, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/center><\/div>\n The prime minister had linked Khan with violent extremists \u201cagain and again and again.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n At the time, Cameron said the former Tooting MP had appeared on a platform with Muslim community leader Suliman Gani, who the prime minister falsely accused of supporting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS\/ISIL).<\/p>\n Gani, as it turned out, is a Conservative backer who had even been invited to Tory events. The Muslim community leader called for an apology, accusing Cameron of \u201cdefamation of the highest level.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n During the mayoral race, Sadiq Khan was the victim of attacks that Muslim groups said reached \u201cdisturbing lows,\u201d<\/em> when his Conservative rival, Zac Goldsmith, allegedly exploited racial tensions in an Islamophobic campaign.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Muslim groups slam Tories ‘Islamophobic’ London mayor campaign<\/a> However, Cameron publicly shook hands with the mayor during Monday\u2019s rally.<\/p>\n \u201cIn one generation someone who is a proud Muslim, a proud Brit and a proud Londoner can become mayor of the greatest city on earth,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n So, Cameron denigrates Khan, then, licks his arse on the campaign to stay in the EU<\/p>\n Is it me, or is this a lack of principles?
