53 Killed in Iraq; Security Forces Draw Closer to Jordanian Border<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Security forces captured<\/a>
\nmore territory on the international highway west of Rutba<\/b>. They have
\nreached at least as far as Camp Korean Village<\/b>, which is a former U.S. base.
\nThe eventual goal is to control<\/a>
\nthe entire highway to the Jordanian and Syrian borders.<\/p>\n

Security forces say<\/a>
\nthey will try to recover Falluja<\/b> next. However, this may include Shi\u2019ite
\nmilitias, which are not welcome in the city. <\/p>\n

In International Money Fund<\/b> (I.M.F.) announced<\/a>
\nit will lend $5.4 billion to Iraq over the next three years. There are several
\nimportant conditions attached to the loan, such as promising to fight
\ncorruption.<\/p>\n

Army Gen. Joseph Votel<\/b>, the head of U.S. Central
\nCommand<\/b>, arrived<\/a>
\nunannounced in Baghdad as part of a Middle East tour.<\/p>\n

Troops have cut<\/a>

\npeople were killed and eight were wounded<\/a> in Mahmoudiya<\/b> when a bomb
\nexploded near shops.<\/p>\n

A bomb killed
\none soldier and wounded another<\/a> near al-Aali<\/b>. <\/p>\n

Eighteen
\nmilitants were killed<\/a> during airstrikes on Tal Keif<\/b>. <\/p>\n

Strikes on Falluja<\/b> left dozens of militants dead<\/a>.
\nThirteen
\nof them were killed<\/a> when a factory was bombed.<\/p>\n

Security forces killed
\nseven militants<\/a> in Barwana<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In Bashiqa<\/b>, a strike killed
\nfour militants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Peshmerga forces killed
\nthree militants and wounded two more<\/a> in Kazak<\/b>.<\/p>\n
