{"id":225318,"date":"2016-02-16T21:14:53","date_gmt":"2016-02-16T21:14:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=225318"},"modified":"2016-02-16T21:14:53","modified_gmt":"2016-02-16T21:14:53","slug":"bush-back-george-w-hits-campaign-trail-help-brother-jeb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/bush-back-george-w-hits-campaign-trail-help-brother-jeb\/","title":{"rendered":"Bush is back: George W hits the campaign trail to help brother Jeb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>George W Bush is back in the political limelight after a long hiatus to support brother Jeb\u2019s campaign to become president number 45.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Number 43 made an appearance Monday at a South Carolina rally, the state he won in 2000 after beating Senator John McCain.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina, the next state for Republicans, is seen as crucial for Bush\u2019s chances following a disappointing fourth-place finish in New Hampshire.<\/p>\n<p>43 brought up<em> \u201cname-calling\u201d<\/em> in the election, before quoting their father, number 41.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLabels are for soup cans,\u201d<\/em> said W.<\/p>\n<p>He added the US did not need a president<em> \u201cwho mirrors and inflames our frustration\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf being president of the United States makes me part of the establishment, well I proudly carry that label,\u201d<\/em> he said, before praising his brother\u2019s experience and demeanor. <em>&#8220;In my experience, the strongest person usually isn&#8217;t the loudest in the room.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>W also brought up 9\/11 to remind the crowd that a president may face unexpected crises and mentioned Jeb\u2019s <em>\u201ccalm resolve\u201d<\/em>, which presumably is kind of like 43\u2019s <em>\u201cseven minutes of silence\u201d<\/em> after he was told about the second attack.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/64772466\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">W\u2019s wife Laura Bush and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham joined the brothers onstage.<\/p>\n<p>Jeb spoke of Trump, without mentioning him by name: <em>\u201cWhile he was building a reality TV show, I didn\u2019t watch it, but I\u2019m sure it was great, George Bush was building the security apparatus that still keeps us safe.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>43 appeared happy to be back on the campaign trail &#8211; and joked about his new hobby of oil painting.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear if the former president will help or hurt his brother\u2019s success on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump has been criticizing 43\u2019s handling of Iraq and blamed him for 9\/11.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\" readability=\"6.8461538461538\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\" data-lang=\"en\" readability=\"7.3025641025641\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Now that George Bush is campaigning for Jeb(!), is he fair game for questions about World Trade Center, Iraq War and eco collapse?
