The Internationally-acclaimed Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami has been invited to attend the Ibn Arabi Film Festival (IBAFF) in the southeastern Spanish city of Murcia.<\/p>\n

Kiarostami along with the renowned French screenwriter and actor Jean-Claude Carri\u00c3\u00a8re is slated to present workshops on filmmaking during the festival.<\/p>\n

The 2013 edition of the festival will also hold a retrospective of Kiarostami\u2019s films and discussion meetings.<\/p>\n

The event\u2019s Honorary Award will also be granted to Jean-Claude Carri\u00c3\u00a8re for his screenwriting in great works such as The Tin Drum<\/em>(1979), Danton<\/em> (1983), The Return of Martin Guerre<\/em> (1982), The Unbearable Lightness of Being<\/em> (1988).<\/p>\n

Kiarostami\u2019s diverse works of art such as painting, photography, Poetry and filmmaking are also to be reviewed during artistic workshops and programs in France in February.<\/p>\n

As a filmmaker, painter, designer and photographer, Kiarostami has received many prestigious international awards, including the 1997 Cannes Golden Palm award and the 2008 Glory to the Filmmaker award of the Venice Film Festival.<\/p>\n

He has staged Mozart’s opera buffa (comic opera), Cosi Fan Tutte at London’s Coliseum Theater and the 2008 Festival of Lyric Art in Aix-en-provence in France.<\/p>\n

Kiarostami participated in the third edition of the Spanish festival while grabbed the Honorary Award of last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Iranian scholar and critic Bahman Maqsoudlou also presided over the jury panel of the last year\u2019s IBAFF.<\/p>\n

The fourth edition of Ibn Arabi Film Festival is scheduled to take place from March 4 to 9, 2013.<\/p>\n
