Whatever one thinks about Hillary Clinton\u2019s sincerity when she professes progressive values, the undeniable reality is that she has immersed herself for decades in the corrupting sludge of Official Washington and its sleazy pay-for-play schemes with Wall Street and other power centers, as JP Sottile explains.<\/p>\n

It was supposed to be a feel-good moment. The Chairman and CEO of the world\u2019s\u00a0most powerful<\/u><\/a>\u00a0financial institution\u00a0dropped by CNBC\u2019s Squawk Box<\/u><\/a> to crow a bit about his recovery from\u00a0cancer<\/u><\/a>. But it didn\u2019t quite go the way Lloyd Blankfein \u2014 or Hillary Clinton \u2014 might\u2019ve wanted.<\/p>\n

First, the\u00a0recently-minted billionaire<\/u><\/a>\u00a0boss of Goldman Sachs compared his 600 hours of chemotherapy to dropping \u201cnapalm\u201d on the Islamic State (\u201cYou get ISIS, but you also get some of the Kurds and Iraqis and everybody else\u201d). Lloyd went on to\u00a0tell Andrew Ross Sorkin<\/u><\/a>\u00a0that unlike another notable,\u00a0newly-minted billionaire<\/u><\/a> \u2014 fellow cancer survivor and\u00a0comparably-connected<\/u><\/a>\u00a0JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon \u2014 his brush with mortality didn\u2019t really inspire circumspection about his life or about his crucial role in the profitable business of giving other people the business (\u201cI must be so thick, I missed that whole thing\u201d).<\/p>\n
