How? By hiring more workers \u2013 a lot more workers. Facebook&#8217;s market cap is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ycharts.com\/companies\/FB\/market_cap\">$300 billion<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 almost\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=gm+capitalization&amp;ie=utf-8&amp;oe=utf-8\">ten times more than GM<\/a>. GM has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Motors\">216,000<\/a>\u00a0employees. I&#8217;m not sure Facebook could find work for 2 million workers \u2013 but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/company-info\/\">12,000<\/a>\u00a0is pathetic. They might start by hiring a few thousand 24-7\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/community\/question\/?id=10200517124727226\">customer service reps<\/a>\u00a0so they could respond quickly when some antisocial pig\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/delta-airlines-facebook-page-got-hacked--obscene-content-posted-2015-2\">posts your nude photo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The part of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2015\/dec\/02\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative-philanthropy-change-the-world\">ain&#8217;t Zuck nice<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2015\/dec\/02\/the-guardian-view-on-the-chan-zuckerberg-foundation-a-truly-generous-gesture\">philanthropist suck-uppery<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0really\u00a0has me annoyed is the &#8220;charity&#8221; bit.<\/p>\n<p>Disclosure: I&#8217;m on record as being\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boiseweekly.com\/boise\/charities-are-for-suckers\/Content?oid=923994\">not at all into charity<\/a>. If something is important enough to require funding \u2013 helping hurricane victims, sending doctors to war zones,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2002\/11\/19\/books\/lilly-heir-makes-100-million-bequest-to-poetry-magazine.html\">poetry<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 it ought to be paid for by society as a whole, out of our taxes. We shouldn&#8217;t allow billionaires to aggregate enough wealth to billionaires in the first place. Partly, this is because it&#8217;s unfair. No one can work hard enough to earn one billion dollars. Also because it gives too much control to individuals at the expense of the 99.99% of everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we await the revolution.
