Iran Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says the recent release of 48 pilgrims abducted by foreign-sponsored Syrian militants is the result of good diplomacy and relations with regional states.<\/p>\n

Larijani stated on Friday that the release of the Iranian abductees showed Iran\u2019s behavior in regional relations is insightful.<\/p>\n

He added that Iran has from the start called for political reforms in Syria because to establish security in the crisis-stricken Arab nation reforms must be implemented first.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cCertain Western states used to think that they could simply succeed [in achieving their objectives] in Syria. A number of regional countries that pursue certain political desires have [added fuel] to this fire,\u201d Larijani pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nThe Iranian official said Western and regional countries have now come to realize that they cannot solve the Syrian conflict through military intervention and by sending arms to Syrian rebels.<\/p>\n

Larijani said countries involved in the Syrian crisis will find out in the future what trap they have fallen into.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe interesting point is that certain countries that know nothing of democracy are claiming to be advocating democracy in Syria,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Forty-eight Iranian pilgrims, who were kidnapped by foreign-backed Syrian armed men several months ago, arrived at Tehran\u2019s Mehrabad Airport on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The abductees arrived in Tehran, a day after they were released in a swap deal between the Syrian government and armed opposition groups.<\/p>\n

They had been kidnapped by the militants on August 4, 2012, when traveling on a bus from Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus.<\/p>\n
