Camels? These wealthy dromedaries gave a new meaning to Hump Day.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15945\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Pope_Francis.jpg?55ac53\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15945\" src=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/lazy-load\/images\/1x1.trans.gif?55ac53\" data-lazy-src=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Pope_Francis-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"Pope Francis\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15945\" src=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Pope_Francis-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"Pope Francis\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\"\/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pope Francis<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Notwithstanding <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2015\/09\/30\/the_cool_pope_honeymoon_is_over_meeting_with_kim_davis_could_be_a_tipping_point_for_american_progressives\/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=socialflow\"><u>his encounter with notorious Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis<\/u><\/a>, the Pope\u2019s visit to the United States last week was a success, with millions turning out to get even a glimpse of him. But some had much better views than others. In fact, since before the Reformation, when the Catholic Church sold indulgences \u2014 pre-paid, non-stop tickets to heaven for affluent sinners \u2014 there has not often been such a display of ecclesiastic, conspicuous consumption and genuflection.<\/p>\n<p>All of which, of course, is more than ironic when you think about the things Pope Francis has said and written about the rich and poor, some of which he expressed during last week\u2019s papal tour.<\/p>\n<p>Back in November 2013, <a href=\"http:\/\/w2.vatican.va\/content\/francesco\/en\/apost_exhortations\/documents\/papa-francesco_esortazione-ap_20131124_evangelii-gaudium.html\"><u>the Pope wrote that<\/u><\/a>, \u201cWhile the earnings of a minority are growing exponentially, so too is the gap separating the majority from the prosperity enjoyed by those happy few. \u2026 A new tyranny is thus born, invisible and often virtual, which unilaterally and relentlessly imposes its own laws and rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ideas like that got Kenneth Langone, billionaire founder of Home Depot and major political bankroller of New Jersey\u2019s Chris Christie, a little hot under the collar.
