{"id":187432,"date":"2015-09-30T22:14:10","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T22:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=187432"},"modified":"2015-09-30T22:14:58","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T22:14:58","slug":"sky-news-host-faces-twitter-backlash-inane-corbyn-interview-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/sky-news-host-faces-twitter-backlash-inane-corbyn-interview-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Sky News host faces Twitter backlash over \u2018inane\u2019 Corbyn interview (VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News presenter Eamonn Holmes has been accused of patronizing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn by asking him \u201cinane\u201d questions during a cringe-worthy interview.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>During the 12-minute interview the Sky News host used football analogies, described Corbyn as a \u201c<em>hippy<\/em>,\u201d compared him to a \u201c<em>religious leader<\/em>\u201d and asked him questions about the tie he wore during his conference speech.<\/p>\n<p>At one point Holmes appeared to grow bored with the Labour leader\u2019s response to his question, saying: \u201c<em>I\u2019m sorry to interrupt you, I know you were saying lots of things<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8ABghHHFv5k\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">Holmes began the interview with a football analogy which, it quickly became apparent, was lost on the Labour leader.\u201c<em>It was a good day but it wasn\u2019t such a good night because I know you\u2019re an Arsenal supporter, we\u2019ll not really dwell on that,<\/em>\u201d he said, before proceeding to dwell on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>It was all going so well and then that happened last night<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Holmes went on to draw his first comparison between football and politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I was wondering looking at you yesterday, every young lad has a dream maybe of playing in the FA Cup final and scoring the winning goal and looking at you, the love that was in the room \u2014 was yesterday your FA Cup Final?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corbyn replied: \u201c<em>It was a great day, but it wasn\u2019t a day I spent my life searching for<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\" readability=\"5.8236994219653\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\" readability=\"5.3757225433526\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">from now on when i&#8217;m arguing with someone or trying to explain something i&#8217;m just gonna do an eamonn holmes and LETS TALK FOOTBALL<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 jlaw (@originaljlaw) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/originaljlaw\/status\/649227408030179328\">September 30, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Later in the interview, Holmes discussed Corbyn\u2019s attitude to the differences of opinion within Labour on military action in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>The Sky News host appeared to suggest handling complex internal politics was like managing a football team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Look, let\u2019s talk football. Your man\u2019s Arsene Wenger my man\u2019s Alex Ferguson. Do you think they go into a dressing room and they say, listen boys, how are we going to line up tonight, what are we going to do tonight?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>No they don\u2019t. Fergie always said he had to make it clear, there was one boss. Holmes is a crank.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Thomas Hemingford (@THemingford) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/THemingford\/status\/649221621954277376\">September 30, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Corbyn said: \u201c<em>My way of doing things \u2014 because it\u2019s politics, it\u2019s community, it\u2019s people, it\u2019s government \u2014 is actually not the same as managing a football team<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At another point in the interview Holmes compared the Labour leader to a \u201c<em>religious leader<\/em>\u201d and criticized him for wanting to create more \u201c<em>caring<\/em>\u201d politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>However, I put it to you \u2014 and I know you\u2019re into caring and respect but that doesn\u2019t happen on TV \u2014 but we\u2019ll do the next bit&#8230;<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Why can\u2019t it happen on television?<\/em>\u201d Corbyn interrupted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Well, because people say I\u2019m sucking up to you and I\u2019m being soft and we\u2019re giving you an easy time\u2026 you know how the game works, so we have to sort of change it<\/em>,\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the interview Holmes quizzed the Labour leader on the tie he wore during his conference speech, insisting that \u201c<em>image is very important<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Holmes\u2019 closing statement appeared to suggest everyday voters base their politics primarily on how politicians look.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The general populous, they want to know \u2018does he look like a prime minister?
