{"id":177131,"date":"2015-08-31T17:23:03","date_gmt":"2015-08-31T17:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=177131"},"modified":"2015-08-31T17:23:36","modified_gmt":"2015-08-31T17:23:36","slug":"zionist-leader-warns-west-will-pay-heavy-price-appeasing-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/zionist-leader-warns-west-will-pay-heavy-price-appeasing-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Zionist leader threatens the west will \u2018pay heavy price for appeasing Iran\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Jewish community leader in the UK has warned that western governments will \u2018pay a heavy price for appeasing Iran\u2019 a month after six world powers signed a historic nuclear agreement with Tehran.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Board of Deputies of British Jews President Jonathan Arkush also urged the UK government to \u201c<em>keep up the pressure on Iran<\/em>\u201d over its support for terrorist groups and human rights abuses following the re-opening of the British Embassy in Tehran on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>His comments were echoed by former secretary of state for communities and local government Eric Pickles, who warned that Iran must stop threatening Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Deputies president cited Iran\u2019s funding of Hezbollah and its alleged role in the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires as examples of Iran\u2019s involvement in international terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>Arkush also referenced the suicide bombing of a Bulgarian bus transporting Israeli tourists in 2012, which Europol suspects Hezbollah was involved in.<\/p>\n<p>Both Hezbollah and Iran have denied involvement in the terror attacks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_eGmc4iW6Rs\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">The Board of Deputies president was clear in his rejection of the nuclear agreement signed last month by Iran and six leading world powers \u2014 China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK and US.The landmark deal promised the end of international sanctions against Tehran in exchange for putting restrictions on its controversial nuclear program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Board is fearful that western democracies will pay a very heavy price for their appeasement to a rogue dictatorship and will come to regret bitterly the enthusiasm to reach an accommodation with an utterly cruel and untrustworthy regime<\/em>,\u201d Arkush said.<\/p>\n<p>UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, who was involved in the negotiations, has said the agreement was the only alternative to war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The real alternative to a deal that prevents Iran building a nuclear bomb almost at some stage would have been war. What we have averted with this agreement is the threat and a prospect of a war<\/em>,\u201d he told parliament last month.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/boxr1rrolD0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Hammond also criticized the official Israeli stance on Iran, claiming the country wants a \u201c<em>permanent stand-off<\/em>\u201d with Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative MP Pickles echoed Arkush\u2019s warnings, however, claiming Iran could only prove it is not a threat through a series of \u201c<em>constructive actions,<\/em>\u201d including the end of Iranian weapons transfers and financial assistance to terror groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Iran must stop encouraging and promoting violence against Israel. Iran must stop its current attempts to establish a military presence in southern Syria along the border with Israel.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>It would be also sensible for the Foreign Secretary to persuade Ayatollah Khamenei to stop his repeat call for the destruction of Israel.
