{"id":165796,"date":"2015-07-15T15:14:52","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T15:14:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=165796"},"modified":"2015-07-15T15:14:52","modified_gmt":"2015-07-15T15:14:52","slug":"cameron-considers-plan-workers-fund-sick-pay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/cameron-considers-plan-workers-fund-sick-pay\/","title":{"rendered":"Cameron considers plan to have workers fund sick pay"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"item-text\">\n<p><strong>David Cameron is considering new plans to make workers save their own money to fund their sick pay, Downing Street has confirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The controversial idea, first suggested by the Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, is an attempt to replicate the US unemployment insurance scheme, which encourages workers to use personal accounts to save up money for unemployment or illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to support the kind of products that allow people through their lives to dip in and out when they need the money for sickness or care or unemployment,\u201d Duncan Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to encourage people to save from day one but they need to know that they can get some of the money out when their circumstances change.
