The US requested McKinnon\u2019s extradition back in 2002 after McKinnon accessed NASA and Pentagon computers. He has admitted hacking into US government computers but always said he was looking for evidence of UFOs. McKinnon is an Asperger\u2019s sufferer and it\u2019s his medical condition \u2013 and the associated suicide risk \u2013 that formed the basis for the Home Secretary\u2019s decision to block his extradition.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the decision today, Theresa May said there is no doubt he is \u201cseriously ill\u201d and the risk of him taking his own life meant it would breach his human rights to allow his extradition. \u201cI have concluded that Mr McKinnon\u2019s extradition would give rise to such a high risk of him ending his life the decision to extradite Mr McKinnon would be incompatible with his human rights.
