Initial claims of 1000 weapons were revised to just over 300, including 118 handguns and an AK rifle.<\/p>\n<p>Waco police Sergeant Patrick Swanton initially spoke of \u201c<em>1000<br \/>\nweapons<\/em>\u201d found in and around the Twin Peaks restaurant, but<br \/>\nissued a correction on the police department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WacoPoliceDepartment\/posts\/817772148271343\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a>, clarifying that the actual<br \/>\nhaul was not quite so sensational.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Waco Revisionism: Police Retract &#8216;1,000 Weapons&#8217; Claim, 4 of<br \/>\nDead Had No Texas Criminal Records <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/80rqvHpsrh\">http:\/\/t.co\/80rqvHpsrh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Brandon Darby (@brandondarby) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brandondarby\/status\/601451645851963392\">May<br \/>\n21, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c<em>The first number I gave this morning was a best guess<br \/>\nestimate from looking at the overall crime scene and was over<br \/>\nestimated<\/em>,\u201d Swanton wrote. \u201c<em>My apologies for the<br \/>\nconfusion, and I should have waited to release a more specific<br \/>\ncount; not estimate.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far, police have recovered 318 weapons in total \u2014 including<br \/>\n118 handguns, 157 knives, and 43 other weapons, such as brass<br \/>\nknuckles and chains. One of the \u201cother\u201d weapons seized was an<br \/>\nAK-47 assault rifle, found in a parked car along with body armor,<br \/>\nthe police have said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>We do expect the numbers to continue to rise<\/em>,\u201d Swanton<br \/>\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>According to sergeant Swanton, weapons have been found \u201c<em>in<br \/>\nsacks of chips, stuffed between bags of flour, stuffed into the<br \/>\nbench seating, hidden in shelves, thrown into trash cans, placed<br \/>\nin the kitchen stoves, discarded on floors and even so far as to<br \/>\nattempt to flush a handgun down a commode<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary findings indicate that the dispute initially broke<br \/>\nout in the bathroom, and then quickly escalated to include knives<br \/>\nand firearms as it spilled out into the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>According to McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara, all nine<br \/>\nof those killed were members of either the Bandidos or Cossacks<br \/>\ngangs. Their identities have not yet been released. Eighteen<br \/>\nothers were wounded. Initial reports spoke of at least 50 weapons<br \/>\nrecovered from the scene, including brass knuckles, knives, and<br \/>\nclubs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>This isn\u2019t your church-going crowd that came out to have<br \/>\ndinner with the family<\/em>,\u201d Sergeant Swanton told the Houston<br \/>\nChronicle. \u201c<em>This is a gang-oriented criminal element that was<br \/>\nin our city to conduct criminal activity<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Breitbart Texas, however, the meeting was a<br \/>\nlegitimate political gathering organized by the biker group Texas<br \/>\nConfederation of Clubs and Independents (CoC&amp;I).
