He said that money had been sent to one victim&#8217;s\u00a0bank account. The other&#8217;s share had been transferred to his court\u00a0deposit, as he is under international sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>The European Court of Human Rights ruled in July 2014 that Poland\u00a0must pay compensation to the two terror suspects: Palestinian Abu\u00a0Zubaydah and Saudi Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, who were held and\u00a0tortured in CIA-run detention centers in Poland between 2002 and\u00a02003. The court set this Saturday as the deadline for the\u00a0payments.<\/p>\n<p>The two men are now being held in America&#8217;s Guantanamo Bay prison\u00a0in Cuba. They are to receive \u00e2\u201a\u00ac100,000 each for psychological\u00a0damage, plus Zubaydah is due an additional \u00e2\u201a\u00ac30,000 in court\u00a0expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Warsaw&#8217;s decision to pay up raised questions in Poland.\u00a0Opposition lawmaker Witold Waszczykowski, cited by AP, said:<br \/>\n<em>\u201cI think we shouldn\u2019t pay, we shouldn\u2019t respect this\u00a0judgment. The<br \/>\n  only other related ruling handed down by the European Court of<br \/>\n  Human Rights was to Macedonia. In 2012, it was ordered to pay<br \/>\n  &euro;60,000 for the detention of a Lebanese-German, who was subjected<br \/>\n  to abuse by the CIA on trumped up terror suspicions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Poland has been investigating allegations of secret CIA detention<br \/>\n  centers or &#8220;black sites&#8221; on its territory since 2008. In December<br \/>\n  2014, Poland&#8217;s former President Aleksander Kwa&#347;niewski officially<br \/>\n  admitted that a secret CIA prison had existed at an airbase,<br \/>\n  where terror suspects were brought for torture and interrogation.<br \/>\n  He insisted, though, that Warsaw had no idea about the abuse<br \/>\n  happening at the site.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kwa&#347;niewski&#8217;s statement came on the heels of a US Senate<br \/>\n  committee report on CIA activities.
