{"id":141347,"date":"2014-11-01T17:19:54","date_gmt":"2014-11-01T17:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=141347"},"modified":"2014-11-01T17:19:54","modified_gmt":"2014-11-01T17:19:54","slug":"uk-government-considered-recruiting-psychopaths-keep-order-nuke-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/uk-government-considered-recruiting-psychopaths-keep-order-nuke-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"UK government considered recruiting psychopaths to keep order after nuke attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Britain\u2019s National Archives released a draft plan from the early 1980s in which the UK government considered recruiting mentally ill psychopaths to help maintain order in the country in the wake of a devastating nuclear attack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/uk-government-considered-recruiting-psychopaths-to-keep-order-after-nuclear-attack-9832910.html\" target=\"_blank\">According to the <em>Independent<\/em><\/a>, in 1982, Britain\u2019s Home Office ran a war games scenario in which the country was struck by 300 megatons of nuclear weapons over a 16-hour period.<\/p>\n<p>Civil servants, police, firefighters, emergency military personnel and other government officials took part in the war game training exercise, named \u201cOperation Regenerate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under Operation Regenerate\u2019s planned scenario, war gamers modeled what would happen with multiple UK cities flattened, large stretches of hand uninhabitable and poisoned and millions dead or ill with radiation sickness.<\/p>\n<p>Jane Hogg, a science officer with the Home Office, proposed a novel solution to keeping order in the chaos that would follow a nuclear raid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is\u2026 generally accepted that around one percent of the population are psychopaths,\u201d Hogg wrote during the war games exercise. \u201cThese are the people who could be expected to show no psychological effects in the communities which have suffered the severest losses.\u201c<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2014\/11\/uk-government-considered-recruiting-psychopaths-to-keep-order-after-nuke-attack\/?\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Britain\u2019s National Archives released a draft plan from the early 1980s in which the UK government considered recruiting mentally ill psychopaths to help maintain order in the country in the wake of a devastating nuclear attack.
