{"id":140979,"date":"2014-10-20T17:44:37","date_gmt":"2014-10-20T17:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=140979"},"modified":"2014-10-20T17:44:37","modified_gmt":"2014-10-20T17:44:37","slug":"government-hogging-ebola-gear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/government-hogging-ebola-gear\/","title":{"rendered":"The Government Is Hogging All the Ebola Gear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Institute of Health has placed a massive order for\u00a0protective clothing and supplies that could make it impossible for you to procure your own gear.<\/p>\n<p>And by massive, I mean a year\u2019s supply for employees of facilities across the country, replenished throughout the year no matter what happens, and taking priority over any personal orders.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s some of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/index?s=opportunity&amp;mode=form&amp;tab=core&amp;id=5aef8d466ef6441c9685d7ef850c31b3&amp;_cview=0\" target=\"_blank\">the text of the solicitation<\/a>, entitled \u201cEMERGENCY DISASTER EVENT PREPARATION FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)\u201d. Some portions\u00a0are bold for emphasis.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Contract will consist of a base year with four (4) option years. In addition to establishing and maintaining PPE as an emergency and disaster resource, the vendor must provide high quality laboratory PPE that meet the specifications as outlined below. Since PPE products have a definitive shelf life, to maintain the integrity of the stocked items the vendor shall deliver requested items from the reserve to the facility on a routine basis or upon request as outlined below. In addition, the vendor shall reestablish the reserve as directed by the Government on a monthly basis. It is the vendor\u2019s responsibility to manage the reserve to ensure the continued rotation of product to protect the integrity of the resource.<\/p>\n<p>Project requirements:<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the vendor must be able to supply the following goods or services:<\/p>\n<p>1. Provide PPE products identical or equivalent to Life Science SMS Lab Coats, Polypropylene Coveralls, SMS Coveralls, Suntech Microporous Film Coveralls, the Non-Skid\/Water Resistant shoe covers, Guardian Nitrile Gloves, and Rhino Shield Latex Medical Grade Gloves.
