Less than 24 hours after the first US-based<\/a> Ebola infection was confirmed<\/a> in Dallas, TX it is being reported<\/a> that another individual who had contact with Patient Zero is now in strict isolation and being tested for possible infection.<\/p>\n

Dallas health officials are now monitoring another person who they fear may have Ebola<\/strong> after coming into contact with the infected man currently being treated in Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: the fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient,\u201d Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zachary Thompson said Wednesday in an\u00a0interview\u00a0with local ABC affiliate WFAA. \u201cSo this is real.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere should be a concern, but it\u2019s contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a developing story linked via Drudge Report<\/a>, there is a serious possibility that\u00a0school-aged children have been exposed<\/a> to the first infected individual. Those children are also being monitored for the virus in isolation units.<\/p>\n

Contagion model researchers have previously warned that Ebola was only a plane ride away and that it could potentially infect hundreds of thousands of people in coming weeks and months<\/a>, and millions by next year. Now it\u2019s here and\u00a0the American public has no real idea of the extent of the exposure. Moreover, there are thousands\u00a0of people in Africa with the virus and it continues to spread, so it\u2019s quite possible that more infections unrelated to Dallas will soon show up in major transportation hubs like Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Paris, London, and Shanghai.<\/p>\n
