They are armed, trained, and authorized to use force. With varying degrees of subtlety, this colors their every action. Like the possibility of arrest, the threat of violence is implicit in every police encounter. Violence, as well as the law, is what they represent.\u201d\u2013<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Our-Enemies-Blue-America-Revised\/dp\/0896087719\">Kristian Williams<\/a>, activist and author<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you don\u2019t want to get probed, poked, pinched, tasered, tackled, searched, seized, stripped, manhandled, arrested, shot, or killed, don\u2019t say, do or even suggest anything that even hints of noncompliance. This is the new \u201cthin blue line\u201d over which you must not cross in interactions with police if you want to walk away with your life and freedoms intact.<\/p>\n<p>The following incidents and many more like them serve as chilling reminders that in the American police state, \u201cwe the people\u201d are at the mercy of law enforcement officers who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/08\/18\/opinion\/the-mayor-the-police-and-eric-garner.html?_r=0\">serve and protect<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For example, police arrested Chaumtoli Huq because she failed to promptly comply when ordered to \u201cmove along\u201d while waiting outside a Ruby Tuesday\u2019s restaurant for her children, who were inside with their father, using the bathroom. NYPD officers grabbed Huq, a lawyer with the New York City Public Advocate\u2019s office, flipped her around, pressed her against a wall, handcuffed her, searched her purse, arrested her, and told her to \u201cshut up\u201d when she cried out for help, before <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2014\/09\/04\/nyc-cops-arrest-human-rights-lawyer-waiting-outside-restaurant-while-her-kids-used-restroom\/?onswipe_redirect=no&amp;oswrr=1\">detaining her for nine hours<\/a>. Huq was charged with <a href=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/usa\/185596-lawyer-sues-nypd-muslim\">obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon resident Fred Marlow was <a href=\"http:\/\/photographyisnotacrime.com\/2014\/09\/08\/oregon-man-arrested-recording-militarized-police-raid-neighborhood\">jailed and charged with interfering and resisting arrest<\/a> after he filmed a SWAT team raid that took place across the street from his apartment and uploaded the footage to the internet. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/stories\/2014\/09\/08\/man-was-recording-militarized-swat-raid-when-things-took-a-sudden-turn-at-first-i-was-scared-to-post-this-video\">The footage<\/a> shows police officers threatening Marlow, who was awoken by the sounds of \u201cmultiple bombs blasting and glass breaking\u201d and ran outside to investigate only to be threatened with arrest if he didn\u2019t follow orders and return inside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/agovernmentofwolves.com\/2014\/09\/09\/resistance-is-futile-the-violent-cost-of-challenging-the-american-police-state\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cPolice are specialists in violence.
