{"id":137562,"date":"2014-08-19T17:46:57","date_gmt":"2014-08-19T17:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=137562"},"modified":"2014-08-19T17:46:57","modified_gmt":"2014-08-19T17:46:57","slug":"msnbc-host-maybe-cops-need-military-gear-deal-anti-government-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/media-news\/msnbc-host-maybe-cops-need-military-gear-deal-anti-government-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"MSNBC Host: Maybe Cops Need Military Gear To Deal With \u201cAnti-Government\u201d Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em style=\"font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit;\">Paul Joseph Watson<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>MSNBC host Ed Schultz suggested on his show last night that police like those currently occupying Ferguson, Missouri may need military gear in order to deal with the threat posed by \u201canti-government groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u201cThe Department of Homeland Security recently came out with a report saying the biggest threat to our security is here within our own borders,\u201d said Schultz, adding, \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of anti-government groups that have popped up in this country, hate groups that have popped up in this country, and law enforcement feels outgunned and they want to be prepared,\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IfgzFlxXsFE\" width=\"620\" height=\"426\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The MSNBC host went on to suggest that it was the use of militarized equipment that was the issue, not a question of whether police departments should possess it in the first place.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Apparently, Schultz thinks it\u2019s perfectly reasonable for heavily armed police to use armored vehicles and military weapons against\u00a0<em style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">some\u00a0<\/em>Americans, so long as their political opinions can be skewed as \u201canti-government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u201cDid you catch that? If not, allow me to summarize: The police are too militarized and as a result are unfairly and unjustly using their unnecessary power to harm black people. But wait, could they actually need this stuff because of people who don\u2019t trust the police?\u201d\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #3b4d81;\" href=\"http:\/\/therightscoop.com\/when-you-absolutely-positively-have-to-blame-the-tea-party-every-night\/\">writes Caleb Howe.<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Schultz\u2019s reference to the DHS report relates to a\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #3b4d81;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/Big-Government\/2014\/08\/14\/Document-Homeland-Security-Predicts-Rise-of-Anti-Government-Violence\">leaked document<\/a>\u00a0from the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Office of Intelligence and Analysis which predicted a rise in \u201canti-government violence over the next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The report notes that a \u201cperceived victory\u201d during the Bunkerville standoff involving Cliven Bundy has emboldened such extremists, who will continue to cite \u201cgovernment overreach and oppression\u201d as an excuse to stage \u201cmore violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Schultz\u2019 myopic comments again expose the hypocrisy of the left-right paradigm.
